Honda City 2023 – New Features and Upgrades

Honda City is one of the most popular sedans in the market, and after a recent facelift it has managed to add some more features that will help it remain a top choice for buyers. The car’s new chequered grille and updated alloys along with the carbon fibre wrapped diffuser and boot-lid integrated spoiler have added some sporty elements to the car, making it look a lot more appealing. There is a new Obsidian Blue colour option to choose from that looks quite attractive.

But apart from these minor changes, the 2023 Honda City facelift has some significant upgrades that are going to improve its overall driving experience. All variants of the City now come with Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed follow, which is a very useful feature in city traffic. This is the first time that Honda has added this feature to its City range, and it will certainly improve the driver convenience factor.

Additionally, the e:HEV models of the City now get Lead Car Departure Warning and Road Departure Mitigation System as well. These features are going to improve the safety of the vehicle by preventing it from accidentally drifting into other lanes. This will also help in avoiding collisions as the driver gets a heads-up when there’s a nearby vehicle approaching from behind.

Under the hood, the City continues to use its same 1.5-litre petrol engine. This is now RDE compliant and can be run on E20 fuel as well. The e:HEV model uses an electric motor as well to create a total system output of 124 bhp and 253 nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT.

For the interiors, the facelifted City gets minor tweaks with some of the upholstery and a few more features being offered. The car continues to get 6 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, leatherette seat upholstery, semi-digital instrument cluster and tilt/telescopic steering wheel. There is also a wireless charging pad, rain-sensing wipers and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support. The Honda City also gets ADAS in the regular petrol variants now, which was not available earlier.

The Honda City faces stiff competition from the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Virtus in the subcompact sedan space. With the addition of these features, the City is set to renew its rivalry with these cars.

With the launch of the new Honda City 2023 facelift in India, it will now be more interesting to see how it manages to compete with these rivals. The company will also have to work double-time in bringing the car to the Philippines as soon as possible so that more and more people can enjoy this upgraded version of the City.
